Mandarin Outreach

Many newcomers to the Dixon Hall community are Mandarin speaking. Dixon Hall, noticing an unaddressed need among this group, has developed ways to welcome and support these newcomers and help them to integrate into the community. Examples of some these programs are listed as follow:

Settlement Services are offered to landed immigrants and newcomers, such as information and referral, information/ workshop sessions.

Recreation and wellness Programs:  Promoting health and wellness is one of the main goals for our program. Activities include fitness, dancing and music program for women and seniors, art and craft for children, workshops on parenting, nutrition and health. Family activities, outings and cultural events are also organized.

Skill and literacy: We support the newcomers in learning new skills and language. This includes English conversation circle, Cantonese learning class, computer class for seniors, and workshops on employment.
