Behavioural Guidelines
The following guidelines are to be followed by LabourLink while in and around 7 Labatt Ave and while on work sites.
LabourLink staff follows employee guidelines set out in Dixon Hall’s orientation manual.
In upholding worker guidelines, staff shall be fair and consistent while acknowledging that action generally needs to be tailored to individuals and circumstances. In some cases a contract may be required.
Workers must treat each other, staff, neighbours, colleagues, and employers with dignity and respect, regardless of background and level of skill.
- Drug trafficking:
Automatic service withdrawal and barring from premises for at least a month. Police may be called.
- Physical assault (with or without a weapon.)
Automatic service withdrawal. Police may be called.
- Oppressive discrimination (such discrimination includes --- but is not limited to – racial slurs, sexist gestures, inappropriate touching, homophobic comments, and comments or jokes about a persons appearance):
Initial incident may result in a warning or immediate service withdrawal. Repeated occurrence will automatically result in a service withdrawal.
- Use of non prescription drugs or alcohol:
Automatic service withdrawal.
- Intentional damage of property:
Worker pays for damage of property through a payment plan. Depending on nature of incident, worker may have services withdrawn as well.
- Smoking in prohibited areas:
Warning. Repeated occurrence may result in service withdrawal.
All serious incidents not covered above will be dealt with by staff of a case-by-case basis.
When a worker has service withdrawn, the following will apply.
- The worker will be barred from 7 Labatt Avenue;
- LabourLink will not place the worker into a jot for the duration of the withdrawal;
- The workers current work arrangement will be reviewed; and
- Staff at Dixon Hall will be notified of the withdrawal.
The length of each withdrawal will be decided at the time of the incident. Staff will discuss and review
withdrawals within a two week period.
To appeal a service withdrawal, the worker may talk personally with the Manager of LabourLink. If unsatisfied with the results of these discussions, the worker may contact the Executive Director of Dixon Hall.
We encourage worker input into revisions of our behavioural guidelines.
