Bridging the Gap

Rebuilding Lives is an annual cocktail event and silent auction to raise money for the Dixon Hall Mill Centre. This year we are taking the event to the next level with a new venue, food stations by incredible chefs and great new auction items to bid on. Our host is Rosey Edeh, Anchor/Host of the Morning Show and News at Noon on Global Toronto and 3 time Olympian.

The Mill Centre

The goal of the Mill Centre is to cut through red tape and deliver a flexible and efficient learning experience to those who need it the most.  Working in partnership companies like Loblaw, The Daniels Corporation and RBC, it operates on a self-sustaining basis with little reliance on government funding.

Your support enables the Mill Centre to equip students with the skills they need for real jobs, including life-skills and coaching.

StopGap Ramp Project

In collaboration with StopGap (a community initiative that promotes removal of barriers), the Mill Centre is mounting an ongoing pre-employment training program targeted to at-risk youth, while simultaneously addressing the needs of individuals with disabilities.

The StopGap Community Ramp Project will see the Mill Centre’s trainees build ramps for businesses with single-step storefronts to make them more accessible (in line with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act).  This initiative has been successful at highlighting how a simple ramp can make life easier for everyone.

The Mill Centre will engage at-risk youth to build the ramps as part of their training.  In turn, youth who face barriers to employment will gain valuable job skills and employment support.
