Children and Youth

The Children and Youth programs encourage young people to develop their talents and skills, become stimulated through thought and discussion, adopt healthier lifestyles and obtain a sense of responsibility and love of learning. Presently, these include a Day Camp throughout the summer, the Funky Friday Dance and the Sunday Night Youth Group. In addition, the Dixon Hall Youth Worker works in partnership with staff from two other community agencies in the Regent Park High-Risk Youth Initiative. This initiative presents young people in Regent Park who are linked to the drug/gang culture with positive role models and a chance to develop different skills and opportunities. Through a unique form of one-on-one peer counselling, combined with social recreational and educational activities, youth can avoid being enticed by the easy money and 'glamour' of the drug scene into what quickly becomes a dead end street.
