Toronto Challenge for Dixon Hall Seniors

Take the Toronto Challenge and help Dixon Hall Seniors!

The Toronto Challenge takes place on Sunday, June 8, 2008 at 9:30 a.m. It is hosted by Toronto Homes for the Aged and a vast array of community partners, all working together to support Toronto's seniors.

Become a Dixon Hall participant for this 5k run/walk or a 1k walk and the funds you raise will directly support our work with over 500 seniors - many of whom deal with major health problems, isolation and poverty. Circle the second Sunday in June on your calendar and help make Dixon Hall's Toronto Challenge a tremendous success.

For further information or to join our team, call or email Sam Mo, Dixon Hall's Seniors Department Director at 416-863-0499 ext. 265.

Each participant will receive a souvenir t-shirt - but there are other great prizes for successful fundraisers. You will receive the following items for reaching fundraising milestones:

$50– $199 To be announced later
$200 – $249 To be announced later
$250 and over To be announced later

To qualify for fundraising prizes, funds must be remitted no later than July 1, 2008.

Thank you for joining us in this cause!

To become a top fundraiser in the Toronto Challenge, we suggest the following steps:

Step 1 - Register - as a Toronto Challenge participant and put Dixon Hall in the 'Name of Organization' line.

Step 2 - Set a fundraising goal (aim high - you can reach it!) Check out the fundraising awards you can earn.

Step 3 - Devise a plan for asking your family, friends, and co-workers to join you in the challenge. Will you contact your list by phone, email, in person, or by mail? To keep track of the funds you are raising, you can use your official sponsor form. Or create your very own email message to contact everyone you know and increase your fundraising efforts - their support is just a click away!

Step 4 - Ask, ask, ask - your list of contacts will support your efforts to help our seniors - but first you have to ask and follow-up to those that haven't responded.

Remember, set a goal, devise a plan and "ask"!

DIXON HALL SENIORS PROGRAMS
Dixon Hall provides programmes and services to hundreds of seniors, many of whom suffer from major health problems and limited financial resources. Our goal is to help seniors 'age fearlessly' and the following are some of ways we accomplish this:

  • 24-hour emergency response for 1000 seniors and intensive personal care for over 100 clients is provided by our Supportive Housing Project
  • Help with housekeeping and shopping is provided to shut-in seniors through our Home Help Program
  • Companionship, telephone reassurance and escorting to appointments is provided by our Volunteer Program
  • Healthy living through social-recreational activities is achieved through our Elderly Persons Centre

Your participation in the Toronto Challenge will raise critical funds for these programs.
